Violinist Dr. Hye Ryun Cha has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts, festivals and master classes throughout the United States, Europe and Korea. She was often invited by festivals, chamber concerts and orchestras, including the East-Asia Contemporary Music Festival and Youngnam International Music Festival. Cha has soloed with the Kimcheon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. She won prizes from several competitions and was awarded honors from a number of schools and festivals.
Dr. Cha has taught at Keimyung University, Changwon National University and Kyungbuk Art High School as a violin instructor. She served as a concertmaster for the Daegu MBC Symphony Orchestra. After receiving her Bachelor degree with full merit scholarship from Keimyung University, Cha went to The Chopin Academy in Warsaw Poland and received her Master of Arts degree. In 2006 she came to US and studied at Indiana University School of Music on a music merit scholarship, where she earned a Master of Music degree and Performer degree. Dr. Cha earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University where she studied with Bayla Keyes. Her former teachers include Ik-Hwan Bae, Janusz Kucharski, Maria Orzechowska and Jung-Ae Kim. Through master classes, chamber coachings, and music festivals, Cha has studied with Dong-Suk Kang, Michaela Martin, Janos Starker, Menahem Pressler and Andre De Groot.
