Zaray Rossi is a Metropolitan Opera National Council District Winner and Regional Finalist with degrees in piano and vocal performance. She has been praised for her mature artistry (Classical South Florida Review) and for her entrancing vocal production (Boston Music Intelligencer). Recently, Ms. Rossi was seen performing the role of Dinah in Bernstein’s iconic opera, Trouble in Tahiti. Other operatic performances include Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Aunt Hannah Watkins in Emmeline, Florence Pike in Albert Herring, Federico Garcia Lorca in Ainadamar, Mezzo in Hydrogen Jukebox, L’enfant in L’enfant et les Sortilèges, Asakir in Sumeida’s Song, and the title role of Carmen.
Most recently Mrs. Rossi finished her artist in residence at Florida Grand Opera, where she performed of Marcelina in Le Nozze di Figaro, covering the title role of Frida, and performing the roles of Lupe Marin and Dima’s Mother in Frida. Ms. Rodriguez’s concert work includes performances of Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Sibelius’ Belshazzar’s Feast, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, and Handel’s Messiah with regional companies in the East Coast. Her recorded performances are with Albany Records’ The Death of Webern where she can be heard performing the role of Clerk, and Seraphic Fire’s Grammy Nominated recording of Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem with the Professional Choral Institute.
Mrs. Rossi feels equally at home in teaching. She has continued teaching while performing and specializes in teaching piano and voice in a variety of styles for a variety of ages and abilities. Mrs. Rossi’s teaching goal is to develop an individualized curriculum that allows each of her students to develop and grow in their musical journey.
Mrs. Rossi is the recipient of the Opera America Career Blueprints Grant, and the Career Bridges Grant. She has also received awards from the National Society of Arts and Letters Competition, Dorothy Lincoln Smith National Competition, and the Connecticut Alliance of Music Heida Hermanns International Competition. Mrs.Rossi holds of Bachelor of Arts in Music and Ministry from Palm Beach Atlantic University, Masters in Vocal Performance from the University of Miami, and a performance certificate from the Opera Institute at Boston University. She is a proud alum of Seagle Music Colony and Aspen Music Festival.
