Jewel Han
Violinist Jewel Joowon Han began her career in both the United States and South Korea
from a young age, making her debut as a soloist in 2011 with the Seoul Concert Orchestra. She
has also performed as a soloist and chamber musician at Carnegie Hall and the Seoul Arts
Center, has played in orchestras at Bos
ton’s Symphony Hall and Kresge Auditorium, and has
performed in masterclasses with renowned violinists and composers such as Timothy Chooi and
Gabriela Lena Frank; additionally, she has received awards in competitions in both the States
and in Korea for her interpretations of works ranging from Baroque to Romantic to
contemporary.
Jewel graduated with honors from Boston University with a BM in violin performance,
where she studied with Professor Emeritus Yuri Mazurkevich and Professor Lucia Lin. In
addition, she received chamber music instruction from Professor Peter Zazofsky, Professor
Shiela Kibbe, and the Arneis Quartet, and worked with conductors from esteemed institutions
such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Ballet.
Aside from her experience as a performer, Jewel has also taught at the Boston Youth
Symphony Orchestra Intensive Community Program and was selected to speak at a TEDxBU
talk under the theme Disciplined Imagination in 2021. She looks forward to growing continuously
through both her future studies and by sharing her passion for the violin with all of her students.
