How much are your music lessons?
We offer multiple options. Please see maestromusicianslexington.com/tuition for tuition.
I have a child who is between the ages of 4-7. How do I know if he or she ready for 30 minute private music lessons?
In considering private music lessons for your son or daughter, you want to make sure that he or she is able to focus and sit still for at least 10 minutes at a time. We believe in the concept of good listening and respect and with these basic parameters, music lessons can take place in a constructive environment. We know that a calm approach is not yet possible for many 4 or even 5 year olds and part of maturing and developing as a good listener involves coming in to the lesson every week to work on these skills. As long as a child is receptive and interested, our instructors will be able to work with him or her, even if it means adding 5 minutes extra of focused attention every week! We make it our priority to develop a good rapport between teachers and students and with the right instructor, even if it takes a few weeks to build the relationship, the thirty minute lessons just fly by.
Do you offer a trial lesson? I'm still not sure if my child is ready!
The first calendar month, or what is left of it, is a trial period. This means that if you decide that our music lessons are just not right for your family, no sweat! We'll cancel our month-to-month payment plan and refund you for what's left of the tuition for the rest of the first month.
What age do you recommend starting private music lessons?
We recommend children start private music lessons at age 4 or above. Piano is the most "user-friendly" instrument for younger kids if a family is unsure where to begin but wish to give a child a great start in the world of music. We do not recommend voice lessons for children under the age of 8 because their voices are not ready for vocal training.
Do you offer group classes?
We offer group classes for children ages 0-5. Most families are seeking private instruction, so if a class is not available, we can put your child on a waiting list and get in touch as soon as something opens up!
How qualified are your instructors?
Our instructors are professionals with top level credentials. Many have masters degrees specializing in their respective instruments. Each instructor is chosen for his or her ability to work well with children of all ages and we pride ourselves on building lasting relationships between our school and each family, one lesson at a time.
Can your instructors help my son/daughter prepare for auditions?
Absolutely! We just need to make sure that there is enough time to prepare and we leave the ability to work with each student at the discretion of the expert instructor. Whether it's musical theater or the many youth orchestras around town, our music teachers are VERY experienced in these matters.
What methods do your music teachers use?
We do not have a single method that the school promulgates and we do not advocate a particular method over another. Sometimes we are asked about the Suzuki Method. Most, if not all of our violin teachers use the Suzuki Method books because they are a great starting point for children.
What about adults? Are your music lessons appropriate for grown-ups?
We have a large number of adult students as well! Our instructors offer a wide-range of available days and time slots up until 9 PM on weekdays and Saturday afternoons/Sunday evenings.
I'd like to start in the future. How much notice do you need to book a teacher?
We can hold a time slot for you up to 2 weeks in advance. Contact us to find out what the current schedules are!
