Isabel Sorebo, B.M.

 

Born and raised in Wisconsin, violinist/violist Isabel Sorebo began violin at the age of 4, following in her older sister’s footsteps. She received Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance degrees from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and holds a WI Professional Educator License for General and Instrumental Music Education, K-12. During her undergraduate career, Isabel won the 2020 UWO Concerto Competition, received two Honors Recitalist Awards, and was awarded an Outstanding Undergraduate Research and Creativity Award for her collaborative performance of Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs. Isabel is currently completing a Master of Music in Violin Performance degree at Boston University under the tutelage of Bayla Keyes; her previous teachers include Lynn Chang and Dr. Yuliya Smead.

As an orchestral and chamber musician, Isabel has performed with ensembles including the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, Sheboygan Symphony, Weider Philharmonic, Manitowoc Symphony, and Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra. She performed as concertmaster and viola section member for the UWO Symphony Orchestra, and held the first violinist position in the Titan String Quartet and viola position for the Titan String Trio from 2018 to 2022. Isabel has attended summer programs such as the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Birch Creek Music Festival, and The Clearing. She has mentored adolescent and amateur musicians in addition to working closely with coaches such as YooJin Jang, Grigory Kalinovsky, Julia Glenn, Thomas Mesa, Alexander Hersh, Agnes Kim, and members of the Ariel, Pro Arte, and Balourdet quartets.
With eight years of teaching experience, Isabel has worked with students ages 4-18 in private lessons, group string classes, middle and high school orchestras, and general music classes. By fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment, Isabel ensures her students can grasp learning concepts and enhance their personal skills through strong musical foundations, proper technique, and opportunities for creative expression. Isabel views her musical journey as a lifelong experience in which she aims to share her musicianship as a teacher and performer with learners of all ages and abilities.
