Haesook Han
Pianist Dr. Haesook Han started playing the piano when she was 5 years old, which was the beginning of her long musical journey. Many years later, her interest and aptitude in music composition has led her to pursue and complete the program for the M.M. degree at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, NY, where she studied with Dr. Nils Vigeland. While Dr. Han was in the New York area, in addition to working for the degree, she gave piano lessons and served as a pianist/conductor for a few churches.
Haesook Han has taught college courses in music composition, ear training, sight reading, keyboard harmony, and theory (harmony and counter point) in her home country of South Korea.
A few years later, she decided to continue her studies. Dr. Han holds a PhD in music from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she studied with Dr. David Felder.
Han has composed and performed various instrumental pieces for solo, ensemble, and full orchestra.
She now lives in Lexington, MA with her family. Haesook is the music director for a local church and gives private piano lessons.
